Heather Mettler, raised on the Kona coast of Hawai‘i, has been working in glass for over 20 years. Surrounded by lava fields, ocean life, and lush forests, she draws endless inspiration from the natural world. After apprenticing in sandblasting as a teenager, she expanded her skills at the Pilchuck Glass School before completing her BFA in Glass at the University of Hawai‘i.
Heather views glass as a medium that behaves like water—fluid, versatile, and radiant when illuminated. Her work often weaves together elements of Hawai‘i’s flora and fauna with the elegance of contemporary design, creating pieces that glow with light and meaning.
