Heather Mettler grew up on the Kona coast of Hawai‘i, where the lava fields, lush forests, and surrounding Pacific Ocean continue to inspire her work. She began her artistic journey apprenticing in sandblasting, further refined her craft at the Pilchuck Glass School, and went on to earn her BFA in Glass from the University of Hawai‘i.
For over 20 years, Heather has transformed glass into luminous works of art, viewing the medium as fluid and alive—like water itself. Her designs often highlight native flora and marine life, blending natural motifs with contemporary artistry to create timeless pieces that glow with light.
