Heather Mettler grew up along the Kona coast of Hawai‘i, surrounded by volcanic landscapes, ocean life, and lush forests that continue to inspire her work. She first discovered glass as a teenager apprenticing in sandblasting, then refined her skills at the Pilchuck Glass School before earning her BFA in Glass from the University of Hawai‘i.
For over 20 years, Heather has transformed glass into luminous, textural works that echo the qualities of water—fluid, versatile, and radiant when lit. Her designs often highlight marine life and native flora, blending contemporary artistry with the natural rhythms of the islands.
