Growing up along the Kona coast, Heather Mettler has been inspired for more than two decades by the natural wonders of Hawai‘i—its lava fields, lush forests, and ever-changing Pacific waters. She began her artistic journey apprenticing under a sandblasting artist, later refining her craft at the renowned Pilchuck Glass School before earning her BFA in Glass from the University of Hawai‘i.
For Heather, glass is a medium as alive as water—fluid, radiant, and constantly transformed by light. Her work often draws from marine life and native flora, creating timeless, textural pieces that carry the rhythms of the islands.
