Dwayne Adams is a Kailua-based watercolor artist whose work reflects a lifetime immersed in the landscapes and spirit of Hawaiʻi. After a 40-year career as a landscape architect, Dwayne returned to his first love — art — channeling his technical drawing skills into fine watercolor painting. His fascination with the medium lies in its vitality: “Watercolor is alive. The movement of water and pigment creates its own magic.”
Dwayne paints plein air throughout the islands and in his Kailua studio, finding beauty in both natural and urban settings. A member of the Hawaiʻi Watercolor Society and a former Signature Member of the Alaska Watercolor Society, his award-winning paintings have been exhibited in Hawaiʻi, Alaska, and Colorado. He also teaches watercolor to beginning and intermediate artists at the Downtown Art Center in Honolulu.
