Raised along the Kona coast, Heather Mettler has spent more than two decades mastering the art of glass. Her fascination began as a teenager apprenticing under a sandblasting artist, before expanding her expertise at the Pilchuck Glass School and earning her BFA in Glass from the University of Hawai‘i.
Inspired by the textures and rhythms of the Pacific, Heather views glass as a living medium, much like water—fluid, versatile, and radiant when touched by light. Her work reflects her deep connection to Hawai‘i’s flora, fauna, and ocean life, creating pieces that celebrate both nature and craftsmanship.
