Heather Mettler, raised on the Kona coast of Hawai‘i, has been creating glass art for more than 20 years. Inspired by the volcanic landscapes, lush rainforests, and Pacific waters surrounding her, she transforms glass into radiant, textural works that echo the natural rhythms of the islands. Her journey began with a sandblasting apprenticeship, continued at the Pilchuck Glass School, and culminated in a BFA in Glass from the University of Hawai‘i.
Heather sees glass as a medium that behaves like water—fluid, versatile, and alive with light. Her designs often feature Hawaiian flora and fauna, celebrating both the natural beauty and cultural depth of the islands.
