Heather Mettler, raised on the Kona coast of Hawai‘i, has spent more than two decades shaping glass into luminous works of art inspired by the islands’ land and sea. She began her artistic journey apprenticing in sandblasting, then refined her craft at the Pilchuck Glass School before earning a BFA in Glass from the University of Hawai‘i.
Her work celebrates glass as a living medium—fluid, versatile, and ever-changing when touched by light. Drawing inspiration from Hawai‘i’s marine life, volcanic landscapes, and coastal waters, Heather’s pieces embody both the power and delicacy of nature.
