Raised on the Kona coast, Heather Mettler has spent over two decades exploring the expressive potential of glass. Inspired by the lush forests, volcanic landscapes, and ocean horizons of Hawai‘i, her work celebrates the interplay of light, texture, and form. She began her journey apprenticing with a sandblasting artist before refining her skills at the Pilchuck Glass School and later earning her BFA in Glass from the University of Hawai‘i.
Heather views glass as a medium much like water—fluid, versatile, and alive when illuminated. Each piece she creates reflects this connection, transforming natural motifs into timeless, luminous works of art.
