Dwayne Adams is a Kailua-based watercolor artist whose work reflects a lifetime of creativity, discipline, and deep appreciation for the natural world. After a 40-year career as a landscape architect, Adams transitioned his rendering skills into fine art, drawn to watercolor for its immediacy and “living” quality — the way color and water move unpredictably to create moments of magic.
He paints both plein air and in his Kailua studio, capturing Hawaiʻi’s landscapes, urban corners, and quiet human moments. A member of the Hawaii Watercolor Society and former Signature Member of the Alaska Watercolor Society, Adams has received awards in both states and has exhibited nationally, including in Colorado.
Beyond painting, Dwayne teaches watercolor at the Downtown Art Center in Honolulu, inspiring a new generation of artists to discover the vitality of this expressive medium.
