Why You’ll Love It
This larger-scale piece brings together multiple ti leaf lei and intertwined puakenikeni lei in a clean, balanced composition. Set against a white background, the forms feel vibrant and full of movement while still maintaining a sense of clarity and restraint.
At this size, the artwork has real presence—allowing the layered lei to feel abundant and celebratory without overwhelming a space. It captures the spirit of connection, tradition, and the quiet beauty of lei.
About the Artist
JT Ojerio, the artist behind Aloha de Mele, is a self-taught Native Hawaiian artist born and raised on Oʻahu. Much of her early life was focused on athletics, competing in wrestling and judo before pursuing higher education on the mainland, where she earned a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology along with a certificate in Pain Medicine.
In 2017, following a hip injury that required reconstructive surgery, JT found herself in a period of stillness far from home. During that time, she began drawing—creating images that reflected the Hawaiʻi she missed. What started as a way to pass time quickly became a meaningful creative outlet. Her work continues to reflect that sense of connection, capturing the feeling of aloha through thoughtful, understated compositions.
Inspired by Hawaiʻi’s beauty, culture, and people, each piece is created to make a statement, exude good energy, and share the aloha spirit. All prints are professionally produced in Honolulu.
