Why You’ll Love It
This piece features four white and green lei connected at the top with a single orchid, set against a neutral background. The composition feels balanced and intentional, with a gentle symmetry that draws the eye upward.
In this smaller format, the artwork feels especially refined and versatile—easy to incorporate into a variety of spaces while still carrying the meaning and tradition of lei.
About the Artist
JT Ojerio, the artist behind Aloha de Mele, is a self-taught Native Hawaiian artist born and raised on Oʻahu. Much of her early life was focused on athletics, competing in wrestling and judo before pursuing higher education on the mainland, where she earned a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology along with a certificate in Pain Medicine.
In 2017, following a hip injury that required reconstructive surgery, JT found herself in a period of stillness far from home. During that time, she began drawing—creating images that reflected the Hawaiʻi she missed. What started as a way to pass time quickly became a meaningful creative outlet. Her work continues to reflect that sense of connection, capturing the feeling of aloha through thoughtful, understated compositions.
Inspired by Hawaiʻi’s beauty, culture, and people, each piece is created to make a statement, exude good energy, and share the aloha spirit. All prints are professionally produced in Honolulu.
