Large Low Coral Vase with Etched Coral
Glass Art by Heather Mettler
Why You’ll Love It
This large, low-profile coral vase offers a strong horizontal presence with a warm, coastal tone. The broader form feels grounded and sculptural, while the hand-etched coral motif adds a layer of fine detail—organic, textural, and quietly expressive. The interplay between scale and delicacy gives the piece balance.
It works equally well as a centerpiece or as a standalone object that anchors a surface.
About the Artist
Heather Mettler grew up on the Kona coast of Hawaiʻi, where the volcanic earth, lush forests, and surrounding ocean deeply shaped her artistic perspective. She began working with glass as a teenager, apprenticing with a sandblasting artist, and later refined her craft at the renowned Pilchuck Glass School. She went on to earn a BFA in Glass from the University of Hawaiʻi.
For over 20 years, Heather has explored glass as a medium that behaves like water—fluid, textural, and alive with light. Her work often incorporates Hawaiian motifs, blending the natural rhythms of the islands with the quiet elegance of handblown glass. The result is work that feels both grounded in place and refined in form.
