Art Print by Janet Meinke-Lau
Why You’ll Love It
This piece features a Vietnamese begonia, rendered in soft watercolor with delicate contrast and movement. The natural patterning of the leaves brings visual interest, while the overall composition remains light and balanced.
Paired with a well-known quote on choice and awareness, the artwork invites a pause—a moment to consider the space between reaction and intention. It’s thoughtful without feeling heavy, offering a quiet sense of perspective.
About the Artist
Janet Meinke-Lau’s two passions are sketching and surfing. After studying finance in New York City and working in investment banking and urban and regional planning, she made a decisive shift—choosing to build a life centered around art and the ocean. She moved to Honolulu in 2016 and has never looked back.
She describes both surfing and painting as experiences of connection—moments where she feels fully present, inspired, and in flow. Her work draws from the natural beauty of Hawaiʻi: the colors of sunrise, the movement of water, the textures of trees, and the quiet encounters with marine life. Her style is light and expressive, balancing a sense of play with underlying structure.
