Heather Almeda is a painter, photographer and art teacher who splits her time between Tacoma, WA and the beautiful island of Oahu. As a wedding photographer, she is surrounded by flowers, cake and pretty centerpieces most weekends. She captures these pretty details with precision and care, making sure no detail is overlooked with her camera. When she finds herself in front of her easel with her brushes and paint (which she tries to do daily), she takes that same love for those pretty things and captures them in a completely different way. She paints loosely from flowers that she arranges and from photographs that she has taken. She enjoys the process of creating abstraction, exploring the collision between realism and non-representation. She leans toward bold strokes and colors that leave space for imagination and play.
